The actress celebrates her birthday today…

Sonam started her career as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the film Black. And her mentor gave her the first break as an actress in Saawariya. Though Sonam did not really get the break she wanted, she finally proved herself in I Hate Luv Storys wherein she starred opposite Imran Khan. 

The actress has worked with acclaimed directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Abbas-Mustan and Pankaj Kapoor. The actress is today working for films like Raanjhnaa with Dhanush and Bhaag Milka Bhaag with Farhan Akhtar.  

Sonam, apart from being an actress, is also a philanthropist. In 2009, Kapoor participated in the International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as "IIFA" charity fashion show. In 2012, Kapoor asked for fans to donate to the Ogaan Cancer Foundation for her birthday. They also collaborated to create awareness for breast cancer.
